Respiratory Fit Test
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) mandates employer compliance with its revised respiratory protection standard. The respiratory fit test is necessary to reduce exposure to respiratory hazards. After an employee has medical approval to wear a respirator, a respirator fit test is the conducted to check if a respirator can be worn without leakage. The test should also be taken if there are changes to the face that can impact respiratory fit such as dental work and weight loss/gain.
We provide both respiratory fit tests.
- Quantitative Fit Testing (QNFT): a machine is used to measure the amount of leakage into the face piece and is mostly used for full face respirators
- Qualitative Fit Testing (QLFT) : a pass/fall test that uses the sense of taste, small, or reaction to an irritant and mostly used for half-mask respirators
